iMessages now working in OSX

Posted on 10th March 2013

For those of us using Apple’s OSx on custom hardware (Hackintosh), iMessages has failed to connect in recent months. This is due to how iMessages verifies the hardware and sees that we are not running a true Apple device.

Chimera, the bootloader included in MultiBeast, has been updated to 2.0.1. In the 2.x release, they have added a fix that allows iMesaages to work on your home-brew OSx machine. This update is not currently a part of Multibeast, so it will require downloading and installing separately. Just follow the install wizard and make sure to install on your Hackintosh primary partition/drive. Any custom configurations should not be overwritten, but always make a backup just in case.

Download Chimera (Requires an account).

Site Downtime

Posted on 11th January 2013

I must apologize to anyone that has tried to visit this site over the last week. There was an upgrade issue with the back end code which caused the site to not generate the CSS properly and had also disabled a few other elements that the site uses.

I have fixed these issues and everything is back to normal.

Stay tuned for a few articles that are in the editing stage currently.

Microsoft Surface – Windows 8 RT

Posted on 3rd January 2013

When Microsoft announced that they would be releasing their own Windows 8 RT tablet, the buzz was that it had the potential to compete with the Apple iPad, especially in the business world.

Microsoft has since released their tablet to the masses. Available in 32 and 64 Gb models, does this tablet have the muscle to compete in an already saturated tablet market? Does it make it a closer race for the Windows platform against the Apple iPad?

Display Mirroring on Sandy Bridge Hackintosh

Posted on 29th November 2012

Ever since Apple released Mountain Lion, I have always wanted the capability to use the new Display Mirroring feature with my Apple TV. When the updates came down, my wife’s iMac and MacBook Pro both immediately were able to utilize this feature while my 2009 MacBook Pro and Hackintosh were unable to. I knew that I would never get this to work on my MacBook Pro, but I wondered about the Hackintosh. One day, a simple solution presented itself.

AT&T Launches LTE in Columbus, Oh

Posted on 16th November 2012

AT&T announced earlier this year, that will will have their LTE service launched before the end of the in multiple markets. One of those was here in Columbus, Oh. Since the iPhone 5 has been in my pocket, I have enjoyed a fairly fast hspa+ network. Today, The LTE network was activated.

The network does not yet seem to be at full speed as I have seen around 30-50 Mbps in other markets. Speedtest.net shows around 20 Mbps this morning.

All in all, LTE is live. Now if only AT&T would make Internet FaceTime a no pay option, we all would be set. Sprint’s turn soon? Who knows.
